A NEW CLASS UNIVERSAL QUASI-RESONANT POWER SUPPLY FOR PLASMA-ARC CUTTING


Purpose of the development: A new class universal quasi-resonant power supply for plasma-arc cutting can be used for manual and automatic separate cutting of the stainless steel, ferrous and nonferrous metals using an air cooling plasmatron. The cutting quality is agreeable to the state standards 14792-80 (EN 60791-1).

Recommended application field: Target customers – engineering, metallurgical, aerospace, shipbuilding enterprises.

The research was carried out in the NUS Welding Department together with the Institute of the Impulse Processes and Technologies. The purpose of the research was the creation of the high-tech power supply prototype with the improved processing productivity, small-sized and light in weight, with low materials consumption, with high power consumption (coefficient of efficiency), and with a lower interference level. To attain all the characteristics the power supply has been created basing on the ZVS-converter with additional LC- chains and microprocessor control.
