Designed for use in the thermionic converter (TIC) of thermal energy into electrical energy

Technical characteristic:
- Work function in cesium vapor <1.2 eV;
- Cesium adsorption energy> 2.5 eV;
- Operating temperature of the cathode - 1500-2000 K;
- Service life - 5 years;
- Output power density (P) - 50 W / cm sq (For comparison: P thermoelectric generators - 5 W / cm sq, P solar - 0.05 W / cm sq)

Description of the development:
() On the surface of the electrodes, a special nanostructure, which causes a redistribution of the electron density needed to increase the energy of adsorption of cesium and a decrease in the work function. This increases the power density of the energy converter, the stability and reliability.
The electrodes can be used:
- In the autonomous power sources with high (50 W / cm sq.) Power density;
- In the high-level power supply system of "Gaydeks" based on the series-connected thermionic and thermoelectric converters of solar energy into electrical energy in outer space;
- For the direct conversion of heat energy into electrical energy, which is released when:
- Chemical exothermic reactions;
- Combustion of fossil fuels;
- Radioactive decay.
