DIAMOND COMPOSITE RESISTANT MATERIAL


Purpose of the development: Designed for use in the bit for drilling deep wells for oil and gas, in bits for exploration drilling, pencils, combs and cutters for dressing of corundum grinding wheels in smoother for the machining of hardened steels, fiber drawing of steel, copper, molybdenum and other wire sensors in the tip for the automatic control of part dimensions.

Recommended application field: Mechanical engineering, instrumentation, mining industry.

Technical characteristic: - Density of 3,43-3,45 g / cm 2; - Knoop hardness of 50-55 GPa; - Fracture 10-12 MPa * m1 / 2; - Compressive strength of 2,2-3,1 GPa; - Young's modulus of 970 GPa; - Thermal conductivity of 250-300 W / m * K; - Wear resistance in terms of corundum revision 4.4 mg / kg; - Thermal stability of 1500 K.

Advantages over analogues: The material has high strength and wear resistance, which improves the yield rate of products.

Currently widely used composite materials based on polycrystalline diamond and silicon carbide formed during silicon impregnation with diamond powder under high pressures and temperatures. The microstructure of these composites is typically a frame made of diamond particles (80-90% of total volume) between which are silicon carbide and uncombined crystalline silicon. The main disadvantages of these materials - increased fragility and low percentage of product yield. The ISM has developed a new material characterized by high strength, high yield rate of products from this material. It is found that this can be achieved by introducing into the impregnating nanopowder layer of diamond or silicon carbide. The addition of diamond nanopowder impregnating Si-layer in the preparation of the composite contributes to the formation of a uniform finely binder phase SiC at the almost complete absence in it of unbound silicon. These factors determine the increase in strength of the composite, and the yield of products. Available in two grades of material: increased strength and increased abrasion resistance.
