HIGH-SPEED LASER PRINTING MACHINES
Purpose of the development:
High-velocity economical printing machines of the "computer to print" type.
Recommended application field:
Optics.
Technical characteristic:
Experiments have demonstrated possibility to mark both liquid and viscous dyes including oil pants used in painting.
Advantages over analogues:
The method ensures:
simplicity of the device construction as a result of the application of a low-power UV radiation source to eject ink of any color without additional aids: absorbing coatings, sources of acoustic waves, and electric fields;
a sharp focusing and a high level of resolution (dpi) owing to the use of short-wave radiation (maximal approach to color photography quality);
a small amount of ink consumption thanks to a small depth of the ink layer (10-4 / 10-5 cm, where decomposition takes place;
a possibility to apply a thin layer of ink on the transparent substrate.

Description of the development:
() There has been developed a concept of creation of printing machines by using UV band laser radiation to selectively remove ink from a transparent substrate (printing form) on the information carrier (paper, plastic, etc.).
The ink is marked under a pressure pulse arising at reaction of "cold decomposition" of the ink layer adjacent to the carrier surface by a UV laser radiation.
When UV radiation parameters (wavelength, intensity, duration) are accommodated with the ink characteristics (absorption coefficient, activation energy) it provides conditions for a "condensate-gas" phase transition in an area of 10-4 - 10-5 cm in depth. It results in occurence of a pressure pulse sufficient to mark ink on the information carrier at low values of UV radiation.
A patent RF N 2176600/01.02.2000 has been obtained.
