TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT FOR PRODUCTION OF ELASTIC GRAPHITE BAND
Purpose of the development:
An elastic graphite band is used for production of sealing elements working in the air temperature range from the cryogenic level up to 5000С, heating elements and heat screens of vacuum furnaces.
Recommended application field:
Mechanical Engineering .
Advantages over analogues:
The technology allows to produce a graphite band up to 1000 mm wide, 0.08-3.00 mm thick and with density 0.2-1.6 g/см3 (contents of residual sulfur is no more than 0.1 % of the mass).
Depending on the sphere of application the graphite band can contain up to 99.9 % of carbon. Doping of graphite is possible by boron, nickel, aluminum, iron (up to 10 %).
Analogs of the equipment and technologies for production of graphite bands of such geometrical parameters and characteristics are not known.

Description of the development:
() The main stages of the process designed to produce a graphite band up to 650 mm wide and 0.08-3.00 mm thick:
* Pumping of oxidized natural graphite powder through an expansion furnace and obtaining porous dry mass with density 0.002-0.006 g/см3;
* Rough rolling of the graphite band up to density 0.2-0.8 g/см3;
* Continuous thermal treatment of the band to clean it from impurities;
* Finishing rolling of the band up to density 1.0-1.6 g/см3 and consequent winding it up into coils.
A patent of the Russian Federation has been obtained on the design and the technological process of the installation.
