Purpose of the development: The KAPAS complex is designed for ensuring fire safety and explosion-proofness of coal, gas, oil and oil products recovery, transportation and storing.

Recommended application field: The complex is efficient in underground structures, mines, gas-transfer stations, oil storages, flour milling plants, woodworking enterprises, varnish-and-paint and other explosive works.

Advantages over analogues: As compared with passive security facilities used in mines, for example, barriers (principle of operation is based on the use of the shock wave which has already arisen from the explosion) the complex in question enables to die the flash at the initial moment of its origination. The high-sensitive sensor specially designed for the complex enables to locate reliably an air-dust mixture inflammation center 20 cm in diameter at a distance of 20 m. The sensor has methane inflammation fast response while not responding to other provocative factors (sparking, electric discharge, illuminance swing). The sensor can operate under trying conditions of a mine (increased levels of dust, humidity, mechanical and vibration loading). The aerosol jet is safety for human being. The KAPAS complex is a new product with improved consumer properties and lower cost that supplements existing range of security facilities for fire risk and explosive works.

The development stage readiness: Tested experimental exploitation order

Description of the development:

The complex consists of a flame sensor; a container with a gas generator and a powder-like extinguishant; a processing unit connected to a central control station to monitor continuously the whole system performance. At a flash the sensor puts in action (actuation time is within 40 ms) the gas generator in less than 0.1 s. The gas generator directs the extinguishant aerosol cloud to the inflammation center; the cloud envelops the flash and dies it down preventing an explosion and further flame spreading. The main technical characteristics of the complex: protected space is 200 m3, overall dimensions are 1.0x0.7x0.4 m, weight is 100 kg. Warranty lifetime is 10 years at -40° / +50°C. The RF patent has been taken out (No. 2070967) for the complex.
