TECHNOLOGY FOR DIFFUSION CARBIDE SURFACE ALLOYING (DCSA)


Purpose of the development: It is intended to modify the surface properties of the protected product in accordance with the specific conditions of its use.

Recommended application field: Chemical, oil and gas, soda industry, metallurgy, heavy engineering.

Advantages over analogues: The analogs can be considered technology CVD and PVD, which allow to apply carbide protective layers. The disadvantages of these technologies compared to DKPL are the residual porosity of the coatings, adhesive bond with the protected model, and a protective layer, much higher costs. For DKPL characterized by a significant reduction of costs of expensive alloying elements such as Cr, Ti, Ni, Mo, V and others. The cost of one ton of security products is about 10% of the cost of titanium, or 25-30% of the cost of stainless steel.

The technology is designed to replace the space-alloyed stainless steels, which are used in the most hostile environments of chemical and mining industry, surface-doped. Carbon steel and cast iron, protected by technology DKPL not inferior in corrosion resistance, and in many cases superior to high-alloy stainless steel and nickel-based alloys. Protective carbide layer also has high wear resistance, making another application of the technology is the defense of the cutting and stamping tools. The technology developed in NTU "KPI" on the basis of the number of opening 368 and has no analogues in the world. Parts made from carbon steel and protected technology DKPL acquire corrosion resistance of titanium and stainless steel. They also acquire ten times greater resistance to abrasion in comparison with these alloys. Surface doping does not affect the size of the protected products. Limiting the size of parts that can be effectively protected, is not available. Resistance to erosion at high temperatures can also be greatly improved. The best material for the application of technology DKPL are carbon steel, gray and malleable cast iron and low-alloy high-grade steel. The development is protected by patents of 27 leading countries. It proposed a two-stage investment project, according to which the first phase is planned to create a pilot site DKPL capacity of 300 tons / year of protected items to bring the sheet metal technology, protection of small-sized products in consultation with the aim of returning the funds invested in the first phase. The volume of investments required for the implementation of the first stage is 140 thousand. $. Depending on the range of products the return on the first stage will be 12-18 months after the release of the design capacity. The second stage serves to create a production surface alloyed steel capacity of 11,000 tons / year. The project provides for the recovery of up to 80% of the heat, and is environmentally friendly. Approximate volume of investments of 1.2 million. $. Payback 12 months after the release of the design capacity. Project readiness is 100% for the first stage and 90% in the second. The technology was introduced in 1989. Plot capacity of 360 tons / year paid off in 12 months. In 1990, net income was $ 2,000.
