MOBILE GRAVITY METER CHEKAN-AM

Purpose of the development: Is designed for aerial and marine gravimetric survey of the earth’s surface and shelf in exploration and prospecting of oil and gas-bearing structures.

Recommended application field: The device enables to perform reception, registration and simultaneous processing in the real time mode of gravimetric information and navigation data from a satellite systems receiver with subsequent plotting of highly accurate gravimetric maps.

Technical characteristic: By its tech-nical and operat-ional parameters, the Chekan-AM compares well with the best foreign analogues, in particular, products of the American firm «Lacosta&Romberg».

Advantages over analogues: The mobile gravity meter prototype has passed successful trials on performance of aerial gravimetric survey when prospecting for hydrocarbons deposits in northern regions of Russia. Preparatory work is underway to use it to carry out aerial gravimetric survey in Arctic areas. A prototype of the mobile gravity meter Chekan-AM has been delivered to the Norwegian geophysical company. The device was installed on a geophysical vessel and, at present, is used in prospecting for oil- and gas-bearing rock in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean.

The development stage readiness: Introduced in production

Description of the development:
()
The operating principle of the device is based on investigation of gravity field alterations, aimed at revealing gravity anomalies caused by occurrence of non-uniformities in the rock density. Нe device is dis-tinguished by improved reliability and low mass-dimension parameters. It enables to perform measurement of earth gravity deviations with high accuracy in conditions of the ship's motions. The gravity meter is designed as a single device consisting of a gravity sensor and gyrostabilizer with a built-in control system on microcontrollers. The gravity sensor is made on base of a double quartz elastic system with a linear CCD optical-electronic converter.
