RADIATION-RESISTANT HIGH-FREQUENCY STRAIN CONVERTERS
Recommended application field:
Aviation and space industries, robotics, medicine, etc.
Advantages over analogues:
Development of gauges for appropriate application is possible, if the sensitive elements have physical and mechanical properties close to the ideal ones, and direct transformation of string's mechanical fluctuations in an electric signal is provided.
A condition to obtain the highest sensitivity (>10 in 9th degree Hz / relative unit of string converter's deformation to the measured value) is possibility to use extremely short and thin crystals.
The pressure gauge consists of a monocrystal silicon membrane and string strain converters made of n-Ge-Si threadlike monocrystal. Free (loose) position of the crystal on the membrane at its deformation under pressure allows obtaining the maximal sensitivity during measurement of its pulsations.
In comparison with other string converters, string monocrystal-based strain converters have higher sensitivity and accuracy at measurement, minimal external dimensions and power consumption.
The development stage readiness:
Pre-production model is made
Description of the development:
() On the base of an universal strain module with n-Ge1-x Six strain resistors tiny high-sensitive high-frequency gauges to measure liquids and gases pressure force in ranges from 0-10 in 4th Pa up to 0-30 MPa have been developed.
The sensitive element of the devises is the electromechanical resonator of string type with electrostatic excitation of cross-section mechanical fluctuations. The string implemented is made of strain sensitive threadlike monocrystal n-Ge1-x Six with length of 1-5 mm, diameter of 8-12 mcm and its rigidly fixed at the ends of a plate or deformable surface (in an elastic element) in the distance 50 mcm from it. Increase of Si in n-Ge1-x Six leads to growth of strain sensitivity of the gauge.
Each pressure gauge is supplied with an amplifier, which in creases resolution, and control device, including data-acquisition equipment.
The pressure gauge is radiation-proof in comparison with those made of Ge or Si crystals.
