HIGH-EFFICIENCY LIGHT-LASER PLANT

Purpose of the development: The plant is intended for: welding thin-sheet workpieces from heterogeneous metal materials such as steel, titanium, zirconium up to 1mm in thickness, aluminium alloys up to 1.5 mm in thickness; hard-facing; soldering; heat treatment.

Recommended application field: Different industries of national economy.

Advantages over analogues: The equipment is distinguished by combination of laser and light beams in a single device that provides a heating spot with a high energy density. In comparison with conventional plants, combined use of two different energy sources in the plant in question provides: - increase in efficiency factor of the plant up to 25-30 per cent and decrease in first cost (1W light energy is by order of magnitude cheaper than laser one) - multiple increase in the equipment performance (aluminium alloys welding rate grows fourfold) - treatment improving (uniform heating, increase in heat penetration from 0.3 up to 0.8 mm for steel workpieces) - possibility of use less powerful lasers (500 W) instead of more than 1kW lasers. The plant is a new product with improved consumer properties and lower cost that supplements an existing variety of laser treatment plants.

The development stage readiness: Tested experimental exploitation order

Description of the development:
()
The equipment is distinguished by combination of laser and light beams in a single device that provides a heating spot with a high energy density. The light-laser plant consists of a laser radiation source connected to a focusing optical system by means of a light guide and a luminous radiation source with an ellipsoidal reflector. In the focus of the latter electroarc lamp electrodes are placed. In the initial stage of a workpiece treatment the light beam energy is used for the workpiece heating to 0.7-0.8 of the material melting temperature, while only in the final stage the laser energy is used. The plant is light in weight and small in size. It can be anyhow moved in space relative to attitude of the workpiece being treated without violation of the sources' optic axes positional relationship. The light module can be used complete with the laser one or independently. The light module is compatible with widely used laser plants, namely, solid-state pulse-periodic and fiber diode-pumped lasers with 100 W - 1 kW power. The plant design and manufacturing technique are covered by nine RF patents (No. 2047434, 2047432, 2047875, 2047876, 2131342, 2047433, 2110125, 2127176, 2135338 of 05.15.98). The USA patent has been obtained (No. 5677983 of 14.14.97). An application for the Europatent has been filed.
