TECHNOLOGY OF FLUORINATION OF THE SURFACE OF RUBBER AND POLYETHYLENE PRODUCTS

Purpose of the development: Gas-phase surface modification of finished rubber products of different shapes and sizes (rings, lip seals, ring seals, etc.), and also polyethylene products of high and low density (vessels, pipes, etc.).

Recommended application field: Application of products with modified surface is most perspective for extreme conditions of exploitation in automobile, aerospace, machine-building and petrochemical industries. Usage of such products allows to replace expensive fluorine rubber products with cheaper ones.

Advantages over analogues: A two-fivefold reduction of friction coefficient and improvement of the products' abrasion resistance; Increase in the chemical stability to petrol and diesel fuels and organic resolvents; A two-tenfold improvement of biostability to micro-organisms; A two-tenfold decrease in adhesive interaction (sticking) with contacting surfaces and in the speed of migration of ingredients; Improvement of stability to thermal oxidation; The technology is carried out without formation of liquid or gaseous wastage.

The development stage readiness: Pre-production model is made

Description of the development:
()
The original composition of fluorinating gaseous reagent allows to ensure economically efficient and ecologically safe treatment of the surface of rubber and polyethylene products. The technology is versatile, it can be applied to different types of rubbers and polyethylene. The equipment is standard, not complex. The technology works at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure and does not require a reactor. The technology by its engineering parameters does not yield to the best world analogs and has lower treatment costs. Patent of the Russian Federation № 1816773 has been obtained on the technology.
