PERFOKOR LASER CARDIO-SURGICAL SYSTEM


Purpose of the development: Transmyocardium revascularization operations on a beating heart.

Recommended application field: Medicine.

Technical characteristic: A new kind of product with improved consumer properties and wide functional capabilities. It has good prospects for entering the market.

Advantages over analogues: Compared with the traditional method of aorta -coronary shunting this method is more simple and less expensive (2-10 times). Operations are performed on a beating heart without an apparatus of artificial circulation, and such operations are relatively low-traumatic. Recommended for patients, for whom bypass surgery and angioplasty are counterindicative. The clinical case record of the laser revascularization in Russia with the usage of Perfokor system has demonstrated high results in treatment of infirms. Mortality percent (less than 1 %) is record low as compared with conventional methods of treatment abroad. Perfokor system has no analogs in Russia and Europe. By its characteristics it does not yield to and by some indexes surpasses its analog - Heart Laser of PLC Medical System (USA), in particular this system has: Much better mass-size characteristics due to the design features of its laser system; Simple design, reliability and lower (2-3 times) cost of a power unit; High value of general performance index (over 10 %) for powerful СО2-lasers; Small operational costs (expenditure of a mixed gas, electric power, service). The main advantage of Perfokor system is high-quality single-mode radiation with a minimum beam divergence, which allows to focus radiation in a smaller diameter and make a canal of a more optimal shape in the treated tissue, and to eliminate burn effects.

During an operation in the cardiac muscle of the left ventricle a powerful laser beam makes canals of 0.3/1.0 mm to the heart cavity. The canals promote restoration of circulation in the ischemia areas of myocardium and prevent development of a myocardial infarction. Perfokor system includes a powerful waveguide single-mode pulse СО2-laser (beam power - several hundred watts, beam wavelength - 10.6 micron, pulse power - 7 100 J, output power control range - 10/150 мsec, control range of pulse delay - 5 999 мsec), optical-mechanical hinged seven-mirror manipulator for delivery and focusing of the laser beam on an object (working area 500х500х300 mm), information system for control and diagnostics of ECG and revascularization process, and an automatic control system. The automatic control system ensures control of all the systems of the installation and synchronization of the pulse of radiation by R-peak of the patient's ECG, and recording of the parameters necessary for an operation. The installation is equipped with a remote control with a display, which shows the current operation data and results of their processing. Patents of the Russian Federation № 2097889 of 13.15.97, № 2108647 of 02.11.98, № 97109121 of 15.08.98, № 47108 of 16.04.2000 have been obtained. Applications for patents of the Russian Federation № 2000128224/14 of 14.11.2000, № 2002104547/14 of 22.02.2002 have been submitted.
