FIBER-OPTIC VIDEO SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM
Purpose of the development:
Transmission of video- and TV signals in the systems of the television broadcasting, cable television,
remote monitoring and surveillance of guarded objects.
Technical characteristic:
An optical transmitter and receiver have been developed for the video signal transmission over a polymer optical
fiber. Transmission characteristics of the developed prototype of the video image transmission system over the polymer
optical fiber have been investigated. The new video signal transmission system has frequency bandwidth of 6 MHz
that is quite enaugh for video signal transmission and is characterized by relatively large signal-noise ratio of 50 dB.
Advantages over analogues:
The optical transmitter and receiver of video signal are developed using low-cost components and are
simple in operation. Consequently, the new video signal transmission system with polymer fiber is
cheaper than similar systems with quarz optical fibers.
