SUPERHYDROPHOBIC DEICING COATINGS FOR ALUMINUM AND ITS ALLOYS


Purpose of the development: Coating is designed to reduce the adhesion of water, snow and ice to the surface of aluminum and its alloys, and can be used to protect the wiring lines from the accumulation of snow and ice in the winter operation.

Recommended application field: Overhead power lines, aircraft, cryogenic equipment.

Technical characteristic: Contact angles with water and aqueous solutions on freshly prepared surfaces of at least 160 degrees., After a year of use in high humidity and air pollution - not less than 145 deg. The shear stress in the removal of ice less than 150 kPa for freshly prepared surfaces and no more than 250 kPa, after years of use in wet conditions and air pollution.

Technical and economic effect: Applied nanotechnology methods that use surface texturing process and the creation of hydrophobic surface nanostructures. This improves water and electrical properties of the surface ldoottalkivayuschie aluminum, resulting in a significant reduction in ice and snow build-up on the wires overhead power lines. In comparison to untreated wires currently used to transport electricity offered cover a significantly lower adhesion of water and ice.
