TECHNOLOGY OF EXTRUSION WELDING


Purpose of the development: Extrusion welding is used for welding sheets, films and other products of thermoplastics. The curved details, the radius of curvature of which is many times the width of the welding seam and the length of the shoe can be welded sheets and the sheets.

Recommended application field: Human extruder (manual welding extruder) is used for welding sheets of thermoplastic film, welding of the sheet of polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as manual extruder used for waterproofing: polyurethane insulation tubes pressureless pipes etc.

Technical characteristic: Requirements detail mating extrusion welding the same as when using other technologies welding of polymers: - Welded together may only articles of thermoplastic, ie a material which can be heated to melt and then cool without significant changes in the properties; - Welded together may only products of the same material. When extrusion welding the same requirements apply a filler material; - Welding surfaces must be clean. It is especially important to avoid greasy dirt; - Cooling the weld process must proceed slowly, under natural conditions. Artificial accelerated cooling leads to temperature changes in the material and reduces the strength of the seam.

Advantages over analogues: Unlike large stationary extruder used in the production of polymer products (plastic pipes, rods, sheets, films), hand extruders are much smaller and are used for welding (brazing) is already finished sheets, films and other articles of thermoplastic. Extrusion welding technology - reliable. Compared with hot air welding, extrusion welding offers a higher quality and productivity.

Equipment and technology Portable equipment for welding die of the extruder and comprises a device for heating the air. The extruder is operated electric (hand drill). Shirt extruder is heated by electric heaters or hot air. Filler material fed to the extruder in the form of rods or pellets, is heated by the extruder jacket and by the friction of the surface of the extruder screw and jacket, stirred until a homogeneous melt state and supplied to the welding zone through a welding shoe. According to its design features extruders differ in the type of heating chamber melting filler material (heating with hot air heating or thermocouple), the type of engine (DC Graphite Brushes and asynchronous with no carbon brushes), the type of air supply (with built-in air gun or an external source), as well as the presence or absence of electronics. Furthermore one of the characteristics is a method feeder meltable material (plastic rod). Distinguish screw and bezshnekovy (mechanical) way to feed wire. An apparatus for air heating (heat gun) heats the air and delivers it through a welding shoe (or through a separate nozzle) for the welded surface to heat them just before feeding the molten filler material. The filler material is introduced between the welded surfaces and pressed down the sliding shoe welding, forming a weld required shape. The temperature of heated air and the molten filler material supplied to the welding zone is controlled automation unit and the extruder should meet table.
