ATMOSPHERE REMOTE SENSING SYSTEM BY POLARIMETRIC- DOPPLER RADAR ATMOSPHERE

Purpose of the development: The complex mathematical model of the Doppler spectra-polarimetric radar signals reflected from the rainfall is designed for the analysis of radar data DARR and introduced into a unique new mobile atmospheric research radar TARA, developed and manufactured at the International Center IRCTR.

Recommended application field: Meteorology.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Description of the development:
()
As part of an international project, which was implemented jointly by the NAU and the International Development Research Center radio and radar IRCTR at the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), developed complex mathematical model of the Doppler spectra-polarimetric radar signals reflected from rainfall. The output of model parameters were characteristic of an object, in particular, the parameters of the microstructure of precipitation and turbulence in the rain, and the parameters of the radar. Verification is performed by comparing the model with experimental data obtained with the Delft Research MNRLS DARR. On the basis of the created models implemented hardware and software system that allows you to simulate the signal spectrum and the main cross-polarization and calculate a unique set of characteristics of the Doppler-polarimetric radar signals reflected from rainfall. Software calculated the Doppler spectra for different polarizations of signals for specific characteristics of the objects, the intensity of rainfall, etc.. Explore new, introduced by the authors of the characteristics of the signals - spectral differential imaging and spectral linear depolarization relationship that would increase the information capacity of the Doppler-polarimetric radar. The developed models and simulation programs are needed for the analysis and interpretation of modern meteorological observations of the Doppler-polarimetric radar.
