MATERIALS HYDROGEN RESISTANCE LABORATORY

Purpose of the development: The laboratory is designed to perform work on the interaction of hydrogen gas with high parameters of structural materials for their long service life.

Recommended application field: Materials science. Hydrogen power. Aerospace engineering.

Advantages over analogues: At the moment the laboratory studied more than 30 industrial steels and alloys, which allows to choose the right construction materials when creating new products of hydrogen energy and aerospace engineering. Also, laboratory workers are developing methods to improve the resilience of the hydrogen through the use of steel refining remelting, surface plastic deformation, coatings based on copper and silver, metallic coatings, and inhibition of the hydrogen environment.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Description of the development:
()
The laboratory carries out the following activities: - Determination of the mechanical properties (strength, ductility) for short stretch material in hydrogen:        • temperature of 293 ... 1000 K;        • the hydrogen pressure in the chamber 10-9 ... 80 MPa; - Definition of low-cycle fatigue (based on 50,000 cycles)        • temperature of 293 ... 1000 K;        • the hydrogen pressure in the chamber 10-9 ... 80 MPa;        • Frequency Load 1 ... 30 cycles / min.        • asymmetry cycle arbitrary; - Identification of high-cycle fatigue:        • temperature of 293 ... 1000 K;        • the hydrogen pressure in the chamber 10-9 ... 80 MPa;        • Load Speed ??1500, 3000 cycles / min; - Study of the strength of materials in biaxial tension - temperature range 77 ... 1000 K; - Study materials to thermal cycling:        • Temperature range 20 ... 1000 K;        • the pressure of gas (hydrogen, helium, etc.) in working chamber 10-9 ... 30 MPa;        • preload compression or stretching of 0 ... 5000 H;        • method of heating - electric shock; - Definition of long-term strength and creep of materials in hydrogen:        • temperature of 293 ... 1000K;        • hydrogen pressure in the working chamber 80 MPa; - The study of friction and wear in hydrogen gas; - Determination of hydrogen fracture materials provided static and cyclic loads:        • temperature of 293 ... 1000K;        • the hydrogen pressure in the chamber 10-9 ... 60 MPa;        • the frequency of cyclic loading 6, 250, 1000 cycles / min.
