AUDITIRY AUDIO CODING METHOD
Purpose of the development:
The method is intended for audio coding in the areas of mobile communications, IP-telephony, radio and TV, IT applications.
Recommended application field:
Audio encoding.
Advantages over analogues:
If used the proposed method, will make possible:
- a 30-fold reduction in the frequency band required for transmission of high quality digital audio data;
- high quality of transmission and reception in mobile communications, IP-telephony, radio and TV applications;
- a 30-fold reduction in the size of high quality digital audio data for their transmission and storage;
- a 30-fold increase the speed of downloading high quality digital audio data from the Internet.
The development stage readiness:
Ready for application
Description of the development:
() The well-known audio codecs as FLAC, Apple Lossless and other provides digital audio data compression ratio with auditory audio quality "Identical to the original" of about 2, the suggested method - of about 30.
The suggested method is based on extraction of auditory parameters from the audio signal, encoded by human auditory system and this is proved by means of codec's software model.
When encoding high quality digital music signal (*.wav, mono, 192kHz, 24bit, 99MB) the proposed method provides auditory audio quality "Identical to the original" with compression of about 30 (3,3MB). As the parameters value of analog-digital coding increase, the encoded file size remains the same.
The proposed method is based on an improved mechanical model basilar membrane of the cochlea of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine (1961) and George Bekesy biophysical model developed by the authors of the cochlea. All audio coding techniques proposed method are confirmed by scientific psychoacoustic experiments.
