Advantages over analogues:
Compared with other sensors on the basis of this SPR sensor has the following advantages:
- Using the same structure as for the excitation of SPR and for its registration, resulting in mechanical scanning system, if it is needed, it becomes easier;
- Compact and related low materials per unit of output (eg, gold content);
- The theoretical possibility of its production on a large scale by means of the microelectronics industry.
The development stage readiness:
Ready for application
Description of the development:
() The sensing element is a photodetector based on the Schottky barrier (Au / GaAs) mikroprofilirovannoy with the interface - the metal / semiconductor interface. Physics of the sensitive element of the sensor is to excite surface plasmon waves ( surface plasmon polariton ( PE ) on the interface - air / metal. Application element is to find the angle at which the PP is excited and the maximum of the photocurrent. Next, using a calibration dependencies can determine the angle or wavelength of incidence or polarization. Thus , it is possible to determine the refractive index of the contacting medium. There is also another more simplified measurement technique .
