FLEXIBLE SOLAR CELLS BASED ON CADMIUM TELURIDA


Purpose of the development: Flexible solar cells based on cadmium telluride are intended for use in energy systems of spacecraft and unmanned aircraft.

Recommended application field: Aviation.

Advantages over analogues: Key Benefits: - Low cost of electricity generated by flexible solar cells (with volume production of 60 MW / year - $ 1 W); - Simple vacuum deposition technology base layers CdS / CdTe, which is adapted to the level of e-business profile of Ukraine; - When the efficiency of laboratory samples SE 11.4% was achieved record power density of 2.5 kW / kg, which is 10 times higher for FE based on gallium arsenide; - Based on CdTe solar cells have a high stability and proton-elektronizluchenii.

Given the greater efficiency and greater radiation resistance film solar cells ( SE ) based on cadmium telluride solar cells are an alternative based on a single-crystal silicon and gallium arsenide , not only in ground , but also in the use of trans-atmospheric provided weight reduction of the substrate to substantially increase the relative power (the ratio produced electric power to weight SE ) . Present capacity is the most important technical data with the use of trans-atmospheric SE because its value determines the cost of in-orbit autonomous sources of electricity spacecraft. One approach to increasing the power density based on CdTe solar cells is to replace the traditional glass substrate on polyamide film . This provides not only significant weight reduction , but also flexibility , which makes it possible to mount the solar panels on the surfaces of any shape and used for flexible solar battery structure in small aircraft.
