TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

ELECTRON-BEAM WELDING OF LIGHT-ALLOY SHELL STRUCTURES WITH WALL THICKNESS UP TO 150 MM

Purpose of the development: The method is intended for manufacture from aluminum and magnesium alloys of cylindric or conic shells of 300 to 8000 mm in diameter used for pressure vessels, cryogenic reservoirs, airframes of rockets and spacecraft, and fuel system casings.

Advantages over analogues: Residual welding deformations are 4...5 times less, and the heat-affected zone width is 5...7 times less as compared with the arc welding technique for aluminum alloys.

The development stage readiness: Tested experimental exploitation order

Description of the development:
()
Composite technology of Electron-Beam Welding (EBM) solves the problems of weld edges of various kinds of joints embodiment by providing pre-welding preparation of their surfaces. The welding operation ensures fulfillment of requirements to assembling accuracy and attitude position of the joint. The technology enables to choose rational methods of welded joints guality control, including welding at cryogenic temperatures.
