Purpose of the development: Technology ensures accuracy in any predetermined size range of flexible manufacturing systems. Of particular interest is the use of non-contact design for precise dimensional control products at their conveyor production.

Recommended application field: The device can be used on plants engineering and instrumentation, as well as in cases when the contact method of measuring the size of the object is impossible or undesirable, because it leads to slower production of conveyor and is accompanied by the involvement of human resources. The device may be useful when sorting objects.

Advantages over analogues: Direct analogues device reviewers development is not known. Advantages of the device are in a noncontact measurement method and the possibility of use in automated conveyor production. The development is based on the use of simultaneous scanning object boundaries two symmetrical beam of coherent monochromatic light . Colinearity of the beams is achieved by conversion of the mobile system and the two fixed gratings , which in the case of large dimensions of the object can be replaced by two pairs of arrays. The object to be monitored , is located between two fixed bars, and scanning beams by changing the position of the movable grating " grope " its limits on both sides. Knowing the grating periods and counting the number of diffraction fringes , which overlap the object simultaneously , it is easy to determine the linear dimensions that automatically performs the appropriate electronic circuitry connected to the computer.
