ASSESSMENT OF THE TOXICITY OF PESTICIDES (HERBICIDES, INSECTICIDES, FUNGICIDES, PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS, ETC.) BY THE METHOD OF BIOASSAY CLADOCERANS


Purpose of the development: Bioassay technique establishes a procedure for crustaceans Daphnia magna Straus and Ceriodaphnia affinis Lilljeborg to determine the acute toxicity of pesticides, namely lethal (LC0), absolutely lethal (LC100) and median lethal (LC50) concentrations for the test objects, as well as to determine the chronic toxicity pesticides for test objects in a series of 3-7 generations.

Recommended application field: Agribusiness (for laboratory personnel conducting the assessment of toxicity of pesticides by bioassay on aquatic invertebrates, namely cladocerans - D. magna and C. affinis).

Description of the development:

Assessment of toxicity of pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, and others.) By bioassay on cladocerans. For complete information about the specific actions of the studied pesticides during acute experiments D. magna should be used three age groups: 1 - youth crustaceans that are only born; 2 - daphnia age 5 days, in which only appeared gonads; 3 - mature females with eggs in the brood chambers. During the acute experiments with C. affinis for full details you should use two age groups: 1 - youth crustaceans that are only born; 2 - mature females with eggs in the brood chambers. In conducting the chronic experiments need to conduct a full analysis of all biological bioparameters characterizing livelihoods of test objects, namely: - Life expectancy of one female, days; - The number of young people in balayage lifetime female specimens.; - The duration of the development of eggs in the brood chamber of the female, days; - The length of time between the sweeping youth days; - The length of the ripening period before the first litter, days; - The number of young people in one sweeping female specimens.; - The total number of young people for life, ind.; - The quality of neonatal crustaceans copies. Integral indicator is the performance of the test object under the influence of a toxicant. The main danger of pesticides is undermining procreation, and this is the main and the main criterion for any study drug toxicity. It is necessary to conduct a full analysis of all biological bioparameters characterizing livelihoods crustaceans under the influence of pesticides in a number of generations.
