METHODS FOR EVALUATING THE PHYSICAL QUALITY OF SOIL

Purpose of the development: The utility model can be used in soil science, agricultural chemistry, ecology, economy and land use to assess the physical quality of the soil as a component of their overall quality, determine the physical characteristics of the soil, the degree of their suitability for agro-technology and mechanical stress, as well as the main component of the overall assessment of the agronomic quality of soil .

Recommended application field: Agriculture, ecology.

Advantages over analogues: The specified index can be useful to managers and executives of the monitoring and evaluation of soil resources, as it enables to obtain objective information on the agronomic quality of the land and to practice management solutions for the efficient and environmentally sound land use.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Description of the development:
()
The term "physical quality of the soil" should be understood as the ability of soil to support the structure, resistance to erosion and compaction, to support the growth of roots. High physical quality of the soil is the optimum ratio in it solid, liquid and gaseous phases, provides the required amount of air in the soil, water and dissolved nutrients for maximum yield of plants with minimal environmental degradation. The main indicators of the physical quality of the soil are such indicators: - Humus or from the surface of the first genetic horizon (cm); - Equilibrium density structure (body weight) of soil (g / cm 3); humidity sustainable wilting plants (%); smallest (field) soil moisture content (%); - The content of macroaggregates agronomically useful size - 0,25-10,0 mm (%); - The contents of the reconstituted aggregates larger than 1 mm (%); - The total surface area of the elementary (grain size) of lobules of the soil (m2 / g). Integrated index of soil quality are the sum of all these individual indexes, then the value of the deviation from the reference soil in the area are the degree of optimality of the physical quality of the test soil (%). This parameter is used for the final comparative assessments. The physical quality of the soil is the criterion for determining the suitability of land for a particular method of use, the possibility of effective cultivation of certain crops, the use of tillage, the rationale for the choice of tillage equipment and in general to determine the attractiveness of agroinvestitsionnoy lands. The index of physical quality of the soil can also be used to justify the level of implementation of hardiness that affect the state of the arable soil, optimizing the structure of sown areas and the introduction of innovative technologies for crop production.
