Purpose of the development: Development relates to the field of optical instrument, in particular to a device for temperature control.

Recommended application field: Development can be used in various industrial plants that require temperature monitoring and control of industrial processes, especially in explosion, fire and radiation hazardous environments.

Advantages over analogues: In comparison with the known world analogues, in particular examples based on chalcogenide glassy semiconductors, eliminating the need for constant calibration of the temperature dependences, displacement of the absorption edge and the refractive index change at the chosen wavelength. In addition, significantly expands the temperature range of the developed optical switch temperatures.

As a material for optical relay temperature recommended single crystals Cu6PS5I, Cu6PS5Br and solid solutions based on them, the use of which is based on the ability to show the birefringence of light at the structural phase transition from the isotropic cubic (F34m) in anisotropic high-temperature monoclinic (Cc) low-temperature phase. When placing the material between crossed polarizer and analyzer temperature is lowered in its certain fixed value will occur in such a light transmission of the optical system. Thus, the feature of this material is the ability to rise therein birefringence of light at a certain temperature, whereby constructed on its base to fix the lens system allows the occurrence of light transmission over a wide temperature range.
