TECHNOLOGY FOR GAS-DYNAMIC EFFECT ON METALS IN THE MOLD


Purpose of the development: The new innovative technology of gas-dynamic effects (DTG) for the metal in the mold improves the quality of the alloys in the manufacture of castings in foundries and ingots.

Recommended application field: Foundry.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The use in the manufacture of cast DTG blanks for cutting tools instead of rolled two times allows to reduce the cost of the preform.

Description of the development:

Developed technology allows improving the quality of metal at a variable time implementation of increasing gas pressure within the liquid phase before complete solidification of the casting in the range of from atmospheric pressure up to tens of megapascals. After DTG increase the mechanical properties of alloys: tensile strength - 10-20%; hardness - 5-12%; elongation - 20-30%; toughness - by 30-36%. Number of marriage casting porosity and blowholes is reduced by 25-70%. DTG technology has virtually no restrictions on the weight of castings or ingots, alloy types, varieties of molds and can be easily implemented in the current process.
