The essence of the process is as follows: two parallel arranged electrode was placed into the material, which can serve as a source of the gas phase and of the active reagents for refining the melt. The free end of the electrode voltage is applied between their limbs working an electric arc. The heat of the electric arc heats the material and initiates the release of a gaseous reactant. In this case, a gas-saturated reaction zone and the block is immersed in the liquid metal. As a result, there are processes of heating and refining the metal.
