DIFFERENTIAL HEAT TREATMENT OF RAILWAY RAILS AND WISECRACKING TURNOUTS
Purpose of the development:
The developed equipment, basic parameters and differentiated tempering technology using induction heating steels of various chemical compositions allow for the production of high rail parts and switches.
Technical characteristic:
Surface hardness of the rails - is greater than or equal to 420 HB;
hardness at a depth of not less than 20 mm - greater than or equal to 321 HB;
tensile strength - greater than or equal to 1400 MPa;
yield strength - greater than or equal to 1200 MPa;
KSU - greater than or equal to 25 J / cm^(2).
Advantages over analogues:
Developers reach a set of mechanical properties, superior performance regulations on wits turnouts for railways of Ukraine and CIS countries.
Designed equipment will also provide a surface hardened rails and turnouts wits bainitic.

() This development is due to an increase in the dynamic loads on the main routes and the need to increase the operational life of products for rail transport.
The technology is designed to explore and experimental confirmation of the conceptual model of the physical process of induction heating rails. This made it possible to formulate the controlling influences on the process of induction heating with adequate cooling parameters change. When this value is reached controlled change of mechanical properties along the entire length of the rails and the uniformity of hardness. Also obtained gradient structures in different sections of wits, which are differentiated by their length. Graded structure provides the best combination of surface hardness and toughness of the metal.
A new hardening installation and computer system to manage the process of heat treatment of rails and switch points with automatic control of temperature and heating and cooling rates that are embedded in an industrial environment.
This equipment installed by experienced thermal hardening regimes that provided in railway rails of eutectoid steel class high level of mechanical properties.
