A method of suppressing dust and fixing surface of red mud sludge storage, which includes sludge storage surface irrigation aqueous sulfuric acid with a concentration of 5.0 g / l, at a rate of - 1 m solution on the surface of 0.2 ha. Thereafter, the treated surface is carried sodding prestaged turf layer thickness of 5-7 cm on the basis of vegetation, comprising 4-6 components from cereal family, Convolvulaceae, clove and at least one component of the legume family. The method additionally provides for the use of reed mats thickness of 3-5 cm. The proposed method is applied for dust suppression sludge storage number 1 Nikolaev alumina refinery. Field and laboratory studies have shown sufficient resistance to the action proposed materials harmful factors (pH 10-11) and weather conditions (t: from - 20 to + 40 ° C, snow, rain, wind), that is shown on the suitability and effectiveness of the consolidation of the surface sludge storage.
