DEVICE FOR MONITORING OF SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL CHANGES OF MAGNETIC FIELD


Purpose of the development: The device provides continuous monitoring of changes in distribution of the magnetic field (MF) in a confined space with a characteristic time scale t> = 0,2 seconds. The device can be used for research in the field of solid state physics in extreme conditions, for environmental control, as well as to extend the functionality of the standard metal detectors at customs control of baggage.

Recommended application field: · Environment: measurement of spatial variations in Earth's magnetic field, magnetic field monitoring of artificial origin, detection hypomagnetic anomalies; · Research: remote control changes the magnetization of ferromagnetic objects subject to extreme temperature and pressure; · Customs control: the controller provides visualization on a PC monitor position magnetically objects in a confined space, such as the baggage and hand luggage.

Technical characteristic: · Number of channels - 8; · Size sensors - 7,2x3,6x60 kub.mm; · Limiting sensitivity of the sensors to the variation of the magnetic induction - 1 / (10 * 7) T; · The time scale of variation of the magnetic induction - t> = 0,2 sec. · Data logging and management of the device is a personal computer via LPT port.

Advantages over analogues: The device is not sensitive to the movement of electrically conductive non-magnetic objects.

The device is an eight-channel controller of the personal computer (PC). The basis of the MP sensors comprise epitaxial films based on iron garnet. The sensitivity of the sensor has minimal variation of the magnetic induction of 1 / (10 * 7) T. When moving in a controlled area of the source of a weak magnetic field, its position is visualized on a PC monitor. When combined with standard metal detectors arch type controller extends the functionality, allowing to distinguish three classes of objects: from electrically conductive non-magnetic metals (articles of precious metals, copper, aluminum foil ...), ferrous metals (knives, scissors ...), as well as magnetically but non-conductive materials (datasheets, mobile phones ...).
