Purpose of the development: The plant is intended for use in special electrometallurgy for melting, refining and casting various metals and their alloys, including silicon.

Technical characteristic: The volume of the melting chamber, cbm: 1.5. Induction heating power, kW: 120. Frequency induction heating Hz 2400. Power electron beam heating, kW: 150. Voltage electron beam heating, kW: 30. Type electron beam gun: Axial. The capacity of the melting crucible, L: 2-6. Operating pressure in the melting chamber, Pa: 0,13-1,3.

Advantages over analogues: The facility provides for change of electron beam heating in the melting process in the event of a sharp change in gas pressure in the melting chamber and thus avoids stopping the process, that is, to prevent interruption in the conduct of heating the electron beam, which is possible by switching on the heating cathode ray guns that can operate at a different residual gas pressure in the melting chamber.

The development stage readiness: Ready for application

Technical and economic effect: The setup allows for 30 ... 40% reduction in the cost of equipment and almost halve the period of implementation in production.

Designed and created by electron-beam casting plant based on vacuum-induction furnaces UPPF-3M and WIS-004, as well as vacuum-arc furnace VDL-4. The installation includes the melter, skull crucible with electromagnetic stirring system, the capacity to drain it melt from the crucible, medium vacuum and low vacuum electron beam guns. On the melter installed mobile plate, hermetically compressed with a camera and which are mounted on the gun, equipped with vacuum closures. Due to the movement of plates guns can alternately be set in position of heating the crucible. Installation allows gas-refining materials and increase productivity.
