SUSPENSION CASTING FROM HADFIELD STEEL
Purpose of the development:
Ukrainian Institute has developed a technology of suspension casting Hadfield steel, which can reduce the grain size of the height of the casting, as well as to increase productivity castings.
Recommended application field:
Foundry steel.
Advantages over analogues:
The use of the technology in the production of large castings weighing up to three tons of the following results: a reduction in bulk volume by 5-15%; reduction of grain size adjustment casting; increase casting efficiency is 20%.

Description of the development:
() Manganese steels prone to transcrystallization is sensitive to temperature conditions of melting, pouring and cooling of cast billets, and thermal treatment. It is known that at low temperatures increases the casting defect rate. Given that the as-cast steel is peculiar trans crystallization columnar structure, an increase in temperature above the optimum filling values ??is unacceptable. On the other hand, manganese steel must fill out a form at very high speeds, which require increasing pouring temperature.
The mechanism of the effect of the suspension inoculators when filling such that melted, they take away the heat of the melt overheating and create a significant amount of melt inhomogeneities are interacting with and growing dendrites formed much ground structure, preventing transcrystallization, reduce the size of concentrated shrinkage cavity. By increasing the pouring temperature required subject to fill in a form, or the maximum number of fillable forms, increases the number of inoculators.
