TECHNOLOGY FOR BIOGAS UTILIZATION


Recommended application field: The facility can be used in different filds in which organic wastes are concerned: - Agriculture; - Factories of the food industry; - Plants of biological purification foul water; - Solid domestic waste dumps.

Advantages over analogues: The main innovative aspect is use of the Pressure Swing Method (PSM). The cycle is short and the process requires room temperature. These two factors combined with motor-generator working at the produced methane ensure autonomous fatility operation.

Description of the development:

Biogas (methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) gaseous mixsture) is fuel geseous micsture with CH4>50%. The use of biogas is an important task as it would solve ecological (limitation of biogas atmospheric emission) and economical (additional energy source) problems. We have developed a technology for biogas utilization. The facility consists of 6 separation modules worcing arternately and ensuring continuity of the technological process. Depending on input biogas composition and requirements to products, facility can contain a set of all modules or one of them.Facility allows to divide biogas into the components: - liquefied almost pure methane in standard vessels with volume 40-50 litters under the pressure 20 MPa and with purity 96%; - liquid carbon dioxide in similar vassels under the pressure 5-6 MPa; - solide carbones dioxyde (dry ice). Technical parameters of the facility: - overall dimensions, mm - 170x1050x650; - productivity in biogas terms - 50nm3/hour; - admixtures of the other components in the separated methane and carbon dioxide - - 4%; - facility weght - - 150kg. Pressure swing method was used for this work. Method uses different contractions of biogas components in the geseous phase at the upper and lower pressure levels in absorber, that is caused by different absorbability of the carbon dioxide and methane. When geseous phase is sampled from the absorber at the upper pressure level, we obtain mixture enriched with less sorbent component - methane, when it is done at the low pressure level - more sorbent carbon dioxide.
