METHODS OF INCREASED RESISTANCE TO FATIGUE FRACTURE OF WELDED JOINTS OF ADVANCED ALUMINUM ALLOYS

Purpose of the development: The developed methods to improve the fatigue strength of welded joints of aluminum alloys can be used in the development of regulations for the design and manufacture of aluminum weldments transport purposes.

Recommended application field: Mechanical Engineering.

Advantages over analogues: Application of the technology provides an increase in the limiting voltage amplitude for joints of more than 30% to T-joints and 20-30% for overlap joints twice.

The development stage readiness: tested in laboratory condition

Description of the development:
()
To improve the fatigue strength of thin-walled butt, tee and lap welds advanced aluminum alloys designed low-cost technologies local high-frequency mechanical peening in zones of stress concentrators. There is also provided a new way of inhibition of fatigue failure, whereby the cyclic durability of the alloy D16AT increases more than 40 times, and experiental-calculation method evaluation cycle life at the stage of fatigue crack propagation in its braking. Results of research are distributed mainly to the web structural alloys AMg6 D16, AD33 and welds performed welding consumable and electrodes in inert gases. The method of inhibition of fatigue cracks tested in the laboratory on samples of large alloy D16. Analytical dependence on the level of cyclic durability of high-frequency component of the amplitude of two-frequency loading experiental tested samples AMg6 alloy and welded joints. As part of this work it is assumed various forms of scientific and technical cooperation on a contractual basis.
