SMELTING TECHNOLOGY OF TITANIUM INGOTS FROM NON SKIM TITANIUM SPONGE SECTIONAL MOLD USING HIGH HEAT
Purpose of the development:
Melting of titanium ingots from titanium sponge gas-saturated, lumpy waste, waste pipe and rolling production chips.
Recommended application field:
Companies producing titanium.
Advantages over analogues:
The developed methods of producing titanium sponge and ingot remelting allow a 20% reduction in energy consumption.
The development stage readiness:
Pre-production model is made
Description of the development:
() The main task in the production of titanium is to reduce costs in the preparation of titanium sponge and ingot remelting. One method is to reduce the 20-30% of the time processes with magnesium reduction of titanium from its chloride followed by distillation of the reaction products in vacuo (separation). This will allow a 20% lower energy consumption and extend the life of expensive equipment to produce titanium sponge. Obtained on a reduced cycle sponge titanium contains up to 1% (wt) of chlorine compounds, instead of 0.08% (wt) standard. Spongy titanium containing increased amounts of chloride may be melted into an ingot using induction melting process in a sectional mold (iPSC). The essence of this method consists in melting, that by means of a small inductor height cooled copper mold to create a zone of high intensity electromagnetic field and produce in this zone melting and refining of metal, which is fed in portions during melting. For sequential ingot formation zone is moved along the mold or leaving it stationary while the ingot is pulled from the mold.
Started pilot plant melting ingots of commercial titanium sponge titanium nedoseparirovannogo. The chemical composition of the metal meets the technical requirements.
