NEW TECHNOLOGY OF SPEED ELECTROSLAG WELDING THICK STEEL WELDED JOINTS WITHOUT NORMALIZATION
Purpose of the development:
Developed a high-performance and energy-saving technology of electroslag welding metal thickness of 40-150 mm.
Recommended application field:
The new technology is suitable for welding steel plate for shipbuilding, reactor construction, boiler and converter production, hydraulic engineering, cryogenic engineering, cement machinery (steel type 25HN3MFA, 16GNMA, 20K, 22K, 16GS, 09G2S, 03H20N16AG6, 10HSND, 25L, 25GSL, and 35L et al.), as well as for controlling the structure of welds in copper and titanium alloys.
Advantages over analogues:
Welding speed is 3-6 m / h. Specific heat input is reduced by 4-6 times, and energy consumption by 3-4 times compared to conventional electroslag welding.

Description of the development:
() For the implementation of the new process created by automatic two- and three-way switches AC (up to 6 kA, frequency of 1 ... 17 Hz, duty cycle 2 ... 6) and two-channel DC (up to 1.5 kA, 10 Hz frequency, duty cycle 2 ... 6) which are compatible with existing serial power sources for electroslag welding, as well as regulators and gauges liquid metal bath level, voltage regulators on the slag bath, digital meters wire feed speed, which have no analogues in domestic and foreign technology.
The new technology of electroslag welding allows you to:
- To increase the cooling rate of the weld metal at temperatures lower austenite stability;
- Reduce heat input welding to the level of automatic arc welding;
- Provide education in the weld metal cellular-dendritic structure;
- Not to carry out a subsequent high-temperature heat treatment of the weld joint.
The technology is used in a number of metallurgical and machine-building plants in Ukraine and CIS countries.
