Purpose of the development: Profiled sapphire grown by Stepanov as practically finished elements (pipes, tapes, prisms, etc.). This method also differs significantly better performance compared to other methods.

Recommended application field: Stepanov's method and its modifications produces products profiled sapphire almost any shape: tubes of round, square, ellipsoidal or other cross-sections, capillaries, tapes, prisms, H, and U-shaped profiles, rods, angle, nozzle, multi-channel, monolithic products complex configuration with an internal cavity, screws, crucibles, boats, etc., in need, if necessary, a minimal machining.

Advantages over analogues: Stepanov's method essentially differs from other methods of melt rate of heat removal from the crystallization zone, which allows cultivation at high speeds. The pulling rate can be varied over a wide range. In addition, the method of Stepanov has a number of other advantages: the possibility of applying for the telecontrol area of growth; resistance to short-term disruption of the growth conditions; great performance.

To grow sapphire crystals by Stepanov used setting with a television control the growth process. Profiled sapphire grown by Stepanov as a virtually ready-made elements. Form or shape of the crystal was originally created in the melt through a variety of methods to keep the melt predetermined shape. Shaper is made from a metal which does not react with the melt. Formed by the melt volume is translated into a solid state by pulling on a seed in the chosen mode of crystallization. A new stage in the development of Stepanov's method was to develop technological methods and devices allowing to grow complex structural elements reconfigurable growing profile. Another area of ??Stepanov's method - growing group of crystals in one work cycle. Group methods are grown, as a rule, single crystals of the same size.
