A SAPPHIRE SUBSTRATE (0001) WITH TERRACED-SPEED SURFACE STRUCTURE
Purpose of the development:
A set of sapphire substrates terraced-speed nano-structured surface (0001), intended to produce nanomaterials and work with them.
Recommended application field:
Terraced-step relief sapphire substrate can be used as an effective template for the self-organization of metal nanoclusters, polymers, proteins, DNA molecules. Nanostructured surfaces can also contribute to obtaining dislocation-free films, in particular, for epitaxy of compounds of elements of III-V and II-VI group for LEDs and laser diodes.

Description of the development:
() Sapphire is one of the world's most common substrate materials. Of particular interest are the sapphire substrate with nanostructured surface. Nanoscale relief is in the form of a terraced-stage structure can be formed on the crystal surface, there is little deviation from the crystallographic plane if its roughness Ra largest close to the distance between neighboring sublattices of the crystal lattice.
Created sapphire substrate with a nanostructured surface (0001), a uniform distribution of terraces and steps of width d from 38 to 2000 nm. The width of the steps increases with decreasing angle of deviation from the geometric surface crystallographic plane. The height of the steps h of about 0.22nm.
