SAPPHIRE OPTICAL DRIVES FOR STORING DIGITAL INFORMATION

Made sapphire discs that can be used as optical media for storage, distribution and archiving of digital information.

Technical characteristic:
Produced in the past and is currently testing the sapphire discs satisfy the requirements for recording information and have the following specifications:
- Diameter 80 mm, thickness 0.7 mm;
- Crystallographic orientation (0001) ± 5 arcmin .;
- The half-width of the rocking curve (FWHM) - 6-9 arcsec .;
- Dislocation density of <10,000 cm minus 2 degrees;
- The lack of low-angle boundaries of blocks;
- Surface roughness (Ra) 0.2-0.3 nm;
- Optical purity 20/10.

Sapphire optical disc can store information for tens of thousands of years.
