TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

CHROMATOGRAPHIC HELIUM IONIZATION DETECTOR WITH THERMIONIC SOURCE (GIDTEI)


Purpose of the development: GIDTEI - a versatile instrument for measuring the concentration of any substance other than neon gas phase adsorption means gas chromatography.

Recommended application field: The instrument is used for flaw detection of oil and gas pipelines, in the systems of detection of explosives, narcotics, toxic, etc.. substances and can significantly increase their efficiency.

Technical characteristic: The threshold of sensitivity of the device is 10 to the minus 6 degrees - 10 to the minus 5 degrees about. %, I.e. 0,01 - 0,1 ppm of inorganic and 10 minus 8 degrees on. %, I.e. 0,0001 ppm for organic gases in the dynamic range of 6-7 orders of magnitude.

Advantages over analogues: GIDTEI can increase by at least 1-2 orders of magnitude sensitivity chromatographs compared to traditionally used them a flame ionization detector and thermal conductivity detector.

GIDTEI is an autonomous electron-pneumatic construction which can be used in the production of new chromatographs, and as an additional unit for any wide-gas chromatography (without alterations) of existing oil and gas, mining, chemical, food, medicine, environmental monitoring, etc. to determine the composition of gas or gas-vapor mixture. The principle of operation is based on the GIDTEI metastable (excited electron emission) states of helium atoms to ionize the gas under study. The disadvantage of conventional helium detector is its environmental hazards due to the use of the radioactive isotope tritium as the source of emission of electrons. In GIDTEI for that first used the original thermionic electron source with electrostatic acceleration. Because of this it managed not only to avoid radioactive contamination of the environment, but also greatly increase the power of the electron beam, and that led to a fundamental increase in the sensitivity of the detector.
