Purpose of the development: Ukrainian scientists have developed the original industrial collection and utilization of landfill gas with modern methods of calculation, technical solutions and materials to protect the atmosphere of greenhouse gases and generate electricity.

Recommended application field: Landfill gas at landfills and dumps of solid waste.

Technical characteristic: At the the system performance of wells in 1000 m? / h capacity of the power plant is about 1.7 MW.

Advantages over analogues: - for the first time in Ukraine created industrial complexes extraction, processing and use of biogas landfills and dumps of municipal solid waste to produce electricity for common grids on an ongoing basis; - dissemination of developments at the sites of Ukraine will provide gas savings of about 0.5 billion cubic meters / year, and taking into account the fuel of biological origin - up to 10 billion cubic meters / year, will create the necessary conditions for the replacement of the regional oil transport fuel; - extracted from biogas, carbon dioxide is a commercial product for the industry, production of fertilizers, increasing productivity of wells; wherein for its production does not require use of fossil fuels.

Technical and economic effect: - mined 9 million. Cubic meters of methane, which replace natural gas. 31 million. KWh of electricity generated and delivered to the network on a continuous basis in the amount of about 60 mln. UAH .; - reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the environment by 150 tonnes

For the first time in Ukraine created the scientific basis and the technology of gathering, processing and comprehensive utilization of landfill gases: methane and carbon dioxide. The optimal technological solutions minimize energy costs of the absorption processes of recovery of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide from biogas to obtain bio-methane - an analog of the natural gas. On the basis of thermodynamic and installed hydro-dependency developed software for calculating the properties of biogas different composition and processes of its processing in the target fraction. A system and control algorithm biogas gas turbine generators in the changing fuel efficiency. The commercial operation introduced five sets of the collection and processing of landfill gas for electric power capacity of more than 6 MW (Boryspil, Zhitomir, Nikolaev, Brovary, Mariupol). The payback period is about 2 years.
