PORTABLE BIOSENSOR INSTRUMENT FOR SIMULTANEOUS EXPRESS ANALYSIS OF CREATININE AND UREA

Purpose of the development: Ukrainian scientists have developed a new sensor device for the simultaneous determination of the concentration of urea and creatinine in biological samples with high accuracy and selectivity. It can greatly simplify the diagnosis of acute and chronic renal failure.

Recommended application field: Hemodialysis centers, private medical laboratories and centers, biochemical laboratory, clinical, diagnostic centers.

Advantages over analogues: - allows simultaneous measurement of creatinine and urea; - the possibility of on-line analysis at the bedside and in the home; - stability - biosensor can be used for about 6 months; - sample volume - 20-50 L; - high sensitivity, specificity, speed, and data acquisition (time of receipt of the result - 2 min.); - low cost of the analysis as a whole; - low cost of manufacture, portability; - no complex sample preparation. In Ukraine there are no analogues. Compared with foreign counterparts (Nova Biomedical) device is technologically simpler fabrication scheme, higher selectivity, simultaneous rapid analysis of two parameters, a lower cost.

The development stage readiness: Pre-production model is made

Technical and economic effect: - optimization of consumables for hemodialysis; - reduction of working time in the analysis; - reduction of time of stay of the patient in the hemodialysis conditions uncomfortable.

Description of the development:
()
In Ukraine, only one in four patients with renal insufficiency has a chance to live, because the cost of the course work artificial kidney -. About 120 thousand hryvnia for one patient. However, the development of Ukrainian scientists can significantly reduce it. They have created a new biosensor that allows for the analysis of blood contamination in just a few minutes. When the kidneys fail, then for output of harmful substances from the body using dialysis - a procedure in which special machines purify the blood, and you want to do at least three times a week for 3-5 hours per session. The development of Ukrainian scientists allows patients to become more free, because they will be able to monitor the concentration of harmful substances in near real time. Due to this they will conduct a hemodialysis machine in an optimal amount of time depending on its actual state. In this case the use of such a sensor is significantly cheaper than traditional tests and costs $ 0.5 as opposed to $ 3-4 per test in the laboratory. Of the sensor is enough for 100 tests, and its replacement will cost $ 10. The device will cost $ 1,000. The tests biosensor system model and real biological samples, the development passes metrological certification, obtained by techniques of creatinine and urea measurements on real biological samples, which have been approved in the "Ukrmetrteststandart" SE. It is necessary to carry out clinical trials to receive state certification, to introduce the device in specialized departments of hospitals and clinics.
