IMPLANTS FOR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY


Purpose of the development: Ukrainian Institute developed the bone implants of bioactive ceramics, which enables you to restore the bone tissue.

Recommended application field: Extensive clinical use: the creation of competitive endoprostheses of the joints, the restoration of bone, soft tissue implants, coatings for metallic implants, using as a basis in bone tissue engineering and creation of drug carriers prolonged action. Consumers: Cancer Institute, dental centers, casualty department.

Advantages over analogues: The combination of calcium phosphate ceramics ideal biocompatibility and mechanical properties of titanium alloys. Benefits of bioceramic cover: - imparting to bioactivity for metallic implant surface; - the formation of a direct connection with the bone without fibrous capsule; - protection against corrosion of the metallic base; - strengthening of the bone tissue around the implant. Advantages of the new titanium alloys for implants: - high corrosion resistance of titanium alloys developed system of Ti-Si-Nb; - high biocompatibility thanks to the elimination of toxic elements vanadium and aluminum present in the traditional alloys; - improving the biomechanical compatibility by reducing the Young's modulus at high strength.

Technical and economic effect: - increased mechanical and biological compatibility of implants; - reducing the cost and improving the quality of implants joints; - the elimination of the toxic effect on the human body; - quick full recovery of the lost bone tissue in large quantities; - extension of the implant services; - increasing endurance alloy Ti-Si-Nb in comparison with analogues of 20-30%; - improving the quality of surgical procedures for restoration of bone tissue and the damaged area function.

In traditional metal implants, there is one significant disadvantage: over time they poison the body, filling it with aluminum or titanium ions. Therefore, for example, successfully made the legs joint prosthesis may need to alter a few years, since the bone to which it is attached, are destroyed. Bone implants made of bioactive ceramics enables you to restore the bone tissue. For example, dentists often have nowhere to put a pin for an artificial tooth - jaw bone is dissolved. Bioactive ceramics allow to increase it and to establish the basis for the implantation of the pin. This material is also mechanically compatible with bone tissue - it allows you to restore the joints and spine. Stage of the project: the permission to use the developed materials of bioactive ceramics in clinical practice; It made more than 50,000 dental, orthopedic 500 and 400 ophthalmologic operations; developed a new titanium alloys significantly more tolerant to the bone than traditional VT1-0 and VT6; developed technology of high-quality bioactive coatings. The developer is looking for partners for the purpose: the production of reliable domestic implants available for Ukrainian patients; spread the use of materials developed; growing bone tissue by using a combination - a carrier of bioactive ceramics and the living cells of a patient using new technology 3D- prototyping.
