Purpose of the development: Ukrainian Institute has developed and created a super-tough transparent armor to replace the traditional red-hot the windows. It will improve the protection of Ukrainian military vehicles in this class and make them easier. Transparent armor can withstand armor-piercing bullets shots, and even bullets from silicon carbide.

Recommended application field: The enterprises of the defense industry, in particular, to equip domestic production of armored personnel carriers, as well as new machines such as "Dozor-B." In a peaceful area of transparent armor can be equipped with machines for the transport of valuables, using it as the windows and armored door.

Advantages over analogues: Bulletproof glass for military equipment with the addition of a sapphire five times harder of enhanced glass. Furthermore, it will be easier to conventional: the last square meter weighs about 400 kg, whereas the armor from sapphire - is only 150 kg. Such glazing is also thin, which is especially important for light armored vehicles with large viewing windows.

The development of Ukrainian scientists should be a response to modern weapons. For example, in Sweden, is now developing a superhard tipped bullets that penetrate the transparent armor at a distance of 2 km. The present invention can withstand such projectile penetration. In the production of one square meter sapphire - that is how much you need to equip one armored personnel carrier - you need two weeks. The cost of the "square" is about $ 4,000.
