TECHNOLOGY "VELVET TRACK"


Purpose of the development: Ukrainian Institute has developed a technology "Velvet Path" and equipment for butt welding of rails in the regeneration of long welded rails rail lashes with the reconstruction and construction of railroads.

Recommended application field: Construction and reconstruction of land railways and subway routes.

Technical characteristic: The technology allows you to connect high-strength rails: from steel grades KF of converter production; of manganese steels 110M13L with to austenitic steel 12X18H10T used for insertion into the design of turnouts.

Advantages over analogues: Development of "Velvet Path" - a quiet and efficient railway. It allows you to create jointless track virtually any length. There aren't analogues in the world. The main advantage of jointless track is almost complete elimination of joints, which provides: - a significant reduction in the dynamic interaction forces of the wheels and the track; - decrease in the resistance movement of trains (on average 10%); - increase the service life of the top structure of track elements (from 1.2 to 1.9-2.2 times); - reducing the cost of repairs of track and rolling stock (35%); - saving time and welding metal melting loss in the 2-3 (5-7 tons per 1 km of track).

The development stage readiness: Introduced in production

Technical and economic effect: - reducing energy consumption by 1.5 times; - improving the environmental safety of welding, including 10-fold reduction in gaseous emissions; - improvement in strength, ductility of welded joints of rails of different categories.

Joints - is the most common problem of railway tracks. Availability of rail joints on the tracks (42 junction at 1 km of track) is associated with: the impact of the dynamic impact of the wheels on the rails; rapid accumulation of defects in the rails and the wheels; rapid wear of the wheels of the rolling stock and track discord. Thus, the modernization of routes and the introduction of scientific and technological achievements in the production of jointless track is an urgent issue. Today seamless rails normally have a length of about 800 meters, after which they must be separated. The development of Ukrainian scientists allows to connect the railway station one continuous rail web. The absence of seams means greater comfort and a smooth ride for passengers, as well as the elimination of the problems of damage and rapid wear of tracks and wheels of the rolling stock. Through the use of a new generation of welding machines Butt welding technology provides high rails. Current project stage: the technology and equipment developed and patented; welding equipment produced in Ukraine and exported abroad. Refinement: the creation and installation of WEB-system for remote monitoring of quality of welded joints of rails in real time on all rail border of Ukraine; preparation of the regulatory framework; network expansion jointless track "from station to station" on the railways of Ukraine with access to the world market K920.
