TECHNOLOGY FOR PRODUCING HIGH STATES IN TITANIUM ALLOYS FOR THE NEEDS OF ENGINEERING AND TRANSPORT
Purpose of the development:
The technology is designed to improve the physical and mechanical properties of titanium alloys with the original lamellar structure by converting the latter in a globular.
Recommended application field:
Transport engineering - aviation companies and the automotive industry.
Advantages over analogues:
- ability to get unattainable by other methods the level of physical and mechanical properties (1450 MPa) on a wide range of products critical applications;
- the possibility to obtain a predetermined level of properties throughout the volume of products, and in particular the local critical areas;
- reducing the duration (several hours to tens of seconds) and increasing performance of thermal processing and, consequently, a substantial reduction in the overall cost of it (electric power);
- the weight of titanium parts detachable connections almost half;
- the absence of corrosion;
- wide operating temperature range (-196 - +400 ° C).
The development stage readiness:
Tested experimental exploitation order
Technical and economic effect:
At the same level of ductility speed method of heat treatment (STR) provides 30-50% higher than the value of the static and fatigue strength compared to standard (furnace) thermal hardening methods.
Description of the development:
() Ukrainian Institute has developed a unique approach based on high-speed heat treatment of titanium alloys to create in them the special structural conditions, which are characterized by high strength (over 1,450 MPa) at the other balanced characteristics. Rapid thermal processing can not only produce high-strength structural states, but also helps to reduce energy consumption and processing time titanium alloys.
The technology has been tested on the example of the production of high-strength titanium springs and fasteners (bolts). Created experimental batches of products with specified characteristics.
