TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

ENERGY-EFFICIENT WELDING POWER SUPPLIES WITH INTEGRATED FUNCTIONS OF HIGHER HARMONIC FILTRATION


Purpose of the development: The paper is aimed at the development of the new power supplies with direct highfrequency electric energy conversion excluding the intermediate conversion of the three-phase voltage systems into direct voltage. The developed principle ensures the 2-3 % efficiency improving due to the twofold reduction of the electric power loss in the semiconductor power components.

Recommended application field: The results of the paper are of practical value for metallurgical, mechanical engineering and shipbuilding fields of industry.

Advantages over analogues: The use of the high-frequency energy conversion allows optimizing the massdimensional parameters of the power supplies and saving the electrotechnical materials. During the welding process the suggested power supplies make it feasible to apply new technologies of controlled electrode metal transfer, thus improving the MIG/MAG weld joints. The use of the specific type of the outgoing (welding) current will ensure increasing the electrode life and controlling the weld joint parameters during TIG welding.

The development stage readiness: The working documentation is developed

Technical and economic effect: The economic effect from the introduction of the proposed development is determined by the decrease of the electrode metal loss during MIG/MAG welding and the amount of mechanical treatment of the joint due to the implementation of the controlled electrode metal transfer technology. Bringing the energy quality parameters into conformity with the international standards excludes punitive sanctions for lowering the electric power quality.

The use of the new power supplies with the functions of higher harmonic active filtration ensures the reduction of power loss in the distribution system due to the decrease of the distortion power and partial compensation of the higher current harmonics in other non-linear loads of the same system. The new power supplies make it feasible to automatically or manually regulate the voltage quality in the electricity network, electric power quality and load quality.
