TRANSFER OF INNOVATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES

OPEN-HEARTH FURNACE HEATING SYSTEM


Purpose of the development: The paper is aimed at the development of the new methods for heating open-hearth furnaces, including heating units and methods of feeding the energy materials into the working area of the unit.

Recommended application field: The suggested development can be introduced at the metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine.

Advantages over analogues: Under current conditions in Ukraine it is not viable to fully replace open-hearth production with basic oxygen or electric-furnace steelmaking. Therefore, the application of the suggested open-hearth furnace heating system will ensure increasing the flame oxidizing potential, provide fuller fuel oil combustion and intensify the heat-mass transfer between the flame and the bath, which in turn will allow significant improvement of a range of technical and economic parameters of furnace performance, such as efficiency, specific consumption of fuel and other energy materials in steelmaking, unit productivity, environmental discharges and pollution.

The development stage readiness: The working documentation is developed

Technical and economic effect: The annual economic effect of its introduction at one of the iron and steel works in Donetsk region made to $ 2 mln due to saving the low-supplied fuel (fuel oil and gas) in the amount of 7 kg of equivalent fuel per ton of steel.

Description of the development:

The newly developed design of the burner with two-phase fuel oil pulverization with natural gas, natural gas and oxygen feed and loss regulation system, together with open-hearth furnace heating methods ensure minimal loss of energy material pressure, the most effective organization of the oil-gas flame and supersonic oxygen jets in the furnace working areas. The suggested development makes it feasible to improve the thermal performance of the unit, regulate the flame parameters and fully use the potential energy of natural gas pressure under the conditions of constant pressure change according to the technological requirements.
