RADIATION MONITORING SYSTEM "INTER-1M"

Purpose of the development: New, "INTER-1M" increased sensitivity of the system is intended for installation and commissioning for incoming inspection of timber in power. System "Inter" has been successfully used by enterprises and metallurgical plants for radiation control of raw materials.

Recommended application field: Export and import controls. PPC nuclear fuel cycle enterprises, radiation hazardous facilities.

Technical characteristic: The firmware performs the following tasks: - adaptation to the natural background radiation changes, automatic adjustment of thresholds and reduction of false positives; - spectroscopy and identification of detected gamma sources; - identify the masked radiation sources from the distortion of the spectrum of gamma radiation; - the identification and registration of neutron radiation; - diagnostics of system components; - over LAN or INTERNET network of current and historical information and conducting radiation-ecological monitoring.

Advantages over analogues: 1. Treatment of gamma-ray spectrum can detect nuclear materials without the use of any additional neutron radiation detectors. 2. Radiation Monitoring System "INTER-1M" works completely automatically. 3. It requires no administration or maintenance. 4. To operate the system, "INTER-1M" does not need a special operator training. 5. All measurement results, events, magazines and photographs of objects of control are written to the archive. 6. The operator is not able to delete this data. 7. In addition, access over LAN or INTERNET network system to "online" mode, and archived with a view to a detailed study of reported anomalies and management of radiation-ecological monitoring.

The development stage readiness: tested in laboratory condition

Description of the development:
()
The radiation portal monitor "INTER-1M" is the embodiment of new technologies to detect radiological contamination of goods and vehicles. A distinctive feature of the system "INTER-1M" is the presence of spectrometric measurement path. Analysis of the gamma-ray spectrum allows for the identification of detected radionuclides and implement highly sensitive method for detecting radiation hazardous and nuclear materials. According to functionality and technical characteristics of the system of radiation control "Inter-1M" consistent with the recommendations of the IAEA IAEA-TECDOC-1312 / R and the US standard ANSI N42.38-2006. US Standard ANSI N42.38-2006 regulates the requirements for the portal monitors, which are used as detectors spectrometric inorganic scintillators. Spectrometry allows the identification of gamma-ray sources. This method provides progressive indisputably more information than conventional counting the number of pulses from conventional plastic scintillators. spectrometric data processing enhances sensitivity when detecting concealed radioactive material. At the same time, a significant part of the identified anomalies caused by radionuclides of natural origin or medical use of the drug. To distinguish them from man-made possible only by gamma-spectrometry.
