Urease test in vivo. Helicobacter pylori bacteria are powerful urease system that allows them to adapt to the acidic environment of the stomach. The patient takes the drug urea (carbamide) - urease substrate. As a result of enzymatic degradation of urea by urease to produce ammonia bacteria partially lifted from the stomach into the oral cavity. The device determines the gain of the ammonia concentration in the oral cavity after consumption of carbamide. What it is diagnostic drug and depends on the number of bacteria Helicobacter pylori in stomach.
